MX presents Subway Drawings, the first solo exhibition by Nate Antolik, features 33 works on paper selected from among hundreds of sketches from his daily practice. Curated by Shelby Jackson.
"A few years ago I started drawing people on the subway while on my way to work. It started out as a way to practice. I would lock onto something– a face, legs, someone’s shoe. To draw someone, you have to stare. Sometimes they notice, but I try not to disturb them. I like how people look on the train; they are between places and for a few minutes they’re still. Then they get off or it’s my stop and I’m out of time."
